Eskom Warns Parties: Keep Election Posters Off Electricity Infrastructure

Eskom is appealing to political parties, independent candidates, campaign teams and the public not to put election posters or banners on poles, transformers, mini-substations or other electrical infrastructure, ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
Climbing poles or working near live equipment to put up or remove posters can cause electric shocks, severe burns, serious injury or death. Posters can also damage equipment and block maintenance. Eskom says it has seen an increase in posters on its infrastructure, that the rule applies all year, and that unauthorised material may be removed where needed for safety. It urges campaigners to use authorised advertising structures only and to report unsafe activity through its customer service channels.
