Young Man Rescued From Namahadi River Near Lancaster in QwaQwa

A young man in his twenties from Bolata Village was rescued from the Namahadi River near Lancaster on Saturday afternoon after reportedly entering the water from the Namahadi River bridge. The Phuthaditjhaba Police Rescue and Diving Unit, Tactical Response Team members, off-duty police officers and the Maluti-a-Phofung Fire and Rescue Service brought him safely to the riverbank, and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia commended the teamwork. As Mental Health Awareness Month is observed in October, he urged families to look after one another, especially people going through emotional distress. He also urged parents to supervise children closely and keep them away from rivers in the hot weather.
